Children receiving dictionaries

For years, Charlotte Rotary has been participating in a projects giving dictionaries to third graders in low income schools.  For many, if not most, this is the first book they have ever owned and that they can call their own.  Learn More

Cooperative project with Charlotte Mecklenburg's Public Library to sponsor a book donation drive within our club accepting both new or gently used books or donation of funds (books that were purchased centered on books for elementary children that were colorful and filled with pictures of children who were Asian, African American, and Latino children as characters in the story)

Cooperative project with Charlotte Memorial Hospital to provide children's books to new born babies and their mothers to inspire mothers to read to their babies (the book was given at the mothers' first well visit with a doctor at the hospital clinic

Carolinas Medical Center in cooperation with the Department of Health sponsors Reach Out and Read for new mothers who bring their babies to a first wellness visit.

Doctors give each mother a book and encourage her to read to her child.

With a gift of $3,000, 1,111 books were printed in English and Spanish, book plated with our Rotary motto, and will be given to mothers upon their first visit with the baby.

Cooperative project with Charlotte Reads to provide children's books to elementary school classrooms (children received a book and a Rotarian visited the classroom and read a story to the children)
