Bronnie McNabb (United Methodist Foundation or Western NC) spoke poignantly of the late Harry Brace, president of the YMCA and a much-beloved Charlotte Rotary member who passed away unexpectedly last week.

Our speaker, House Speaker Dr. Jim Black is the first NC House of Representatives Speaker in 73 years from Charlotte and we're very proud!

Patricia Baldwin (Hornet's Nest Girl Scout Council) and Hal Bouton (WTVI) listen intently as Jim Black reminds us that the General Assembly DID NOT RAISE TAXES and passed the budget by 21 July for the first time in 75 years!

Tyson Bennett, David Anderson (Anderson Capital Consulting) and Julian Aldridge (Myers Park United Methodist Church) were intent in hearing about Jim Black's focus on plans to raise our teachers' pay to the national average.  What could be more important?!

Our newest member of Charlotte Rotary is Jeannie Falknor, editor of The Business Journal and friend to many Charlotte Rotarians. Jeannie was inducted into Charlotte Rotary today.

Lee Myers (attorney and Mayor of Matthews), Jim Black (Matthews resident, well-known Optometrist and NC Speaker of the House) and Jim Woodward (UNCC Chancellor) --- a triple threat when it comes to accomplishments!  All three are dedicated community servants, successful businessmen and quality individuals.

Sarah Williamson (wife of Charlotte Rotary president Worth Williamson) was inducted as a Paul Harris Fellow at our meeting.  Sarah has a long list of community contributions and is worthy of this honor.

Jeannie Falknor and Gayle Smith (The Charlotte Observer) listen as Mary-Stuart Brooks (Mecklenburg Ministries) asks Charlotte Rotarians for help in locating a facility which will house the Emergency Winter Shelter residents during the upcoming cold months.

Lee Myers and Jim Woodward are both close friends and supporters of our excellent speaker, Jim Black.

John Luby (The Charlotte Observer) and Gene Williams (ex-Observer "big-wig") remain good friends and enjoy getting together for newspaper talk at Charlotte Rotary meetings.

Winn Maddrey (Crescent PR) and Hope Lanier (BellSouth) were stunned to hear about Ronnie Pruett's dancing debut in Vienna!
