Bob Knight

If you recognize something that sounds like your name, please stand, says Bob Knight as he introduces club guests and visitors. Quite a few guests turned out to hear the new NC State University Chancellor.

Jim Woodward and Dean Colvard

Current UNC Charlotte Chancellor Jim Woodward (left), who introduced the guest speaker, fellow Chancellor Marye Anne Fox of NC State, sits beside UNC Charlotte's first Chancellor, Dean Colvard, at the head table.

Jay Myers

Jay Myers (James M. Myers & Co., Inc.) treads down a dangerous path telling "women's jokes" during health and happiness -- a potentially career-ending move, especially when the speaker is a woman.

Barry Miller

Captain Barry Miller, US Naval Reserves, Retired, introduces Rotarian Al McCulloch's grandson, Ryan McCulloch, who will be joining the nuclear submarine USS Charlotte at Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii, on October 21.

President Worth and NC State Chancellor Marye Anne Fox

President Worth (Edmiston Investing Consulting Group) presents a "well-deserved" Rotary mug to NC State Chancellor Marye Anne Fox after her excellent presentation about the future of North Carolina's largest public university.

Ronnie Pruett and Chancellor Fox

Immediate Past President Ronnie Pruett (Attorney at Law) talks with Chancellor Fox (right) after the club meeting.

Ken Harris

Past President Ken Harris (Harris Plans) holds up the Charlotte Observer Business Monday story about Rotarian Jerry Orr (Charlotte/Douglas International Airport) as President Worth read quotes from the article.

Tom Hunter, Bob Young, Ed Kiser and Jerry Blanchard

Four members of the First Quarter Program Committee are recognized for their outstanding efforts; (from left) Tom Hunter (Charter Properties, Inc.), Bob Young (UNC Charlotte Athletic Foundation), Ed Kiser (UNC Charlotte) and Jerry Blanchard (Bullard & Blanchard PLLC) each received the ubiquitous "President Worth" - Charlotte-Rotary coffee mug.   Could it be that Program Committee Chair Jim Woodward is getting his money's worth out of UNC Charlotte folks.

Mary-Stuart Brooks and Chancellor Fox

After the meeting, club newsletter reporter Mary-Stuart Brooks (Mecklenburg Ministries) chats with main speaker Chancellor Fox.

Robert Peterson, Ronnie Pruett and Bill Loftin

At left, Robert Peterson, Immediate Past President Ronnie Pruett (Attorney at Law) and Charlotte Rotary's Historian Bill Loftin (Heritage Printers).

Jim Appleby, Gayle Smith and Chancellor Fox

Gayle Smith (The Charlotte Observer) speaks with Chancellor Fox while Past President Jim Appleby (Lee Hecht Harrison) waits his turn to put in a good word with the Chancellor for his older son who's in his second year at the Raleigh school.  Every little bit help, right Jim?

Dr. Eugene Kozhevnikov and Dr. Barry Miller

Dr. Eugene Kozhevnikov ("Mr. K") poses with a happy Dr. Barry Miller.  Now, shouldn't a pediatric dentist be all smiles?

Three generations of the Al McCulloch family: grandson Ryan S., son Richard M. and Al

From left, three generations of the Al McCulloch family: grandson Ryan S., son Richard M. and Al.   Interestingly, Ryan graduated summa cum laude from NC State where he was Battalion Commander of the Wolfpack Naval Reserve Officer Training Corp his senior year.   Ensign McCulloch October 21 will become an officer on Charlotte's namesake nuclear submarine, the USS Charlotte.  After graduation as mechanical engineer, Al's grandson was invited by the Navy to go to nuclear power school; he recently finished his submariner training at the US Naval Base in Groton, Conn. By the way, proud dad Richard S. McCulloch attended State, too.
