Luther L. Fincher, Jr. (at podium) and Dennis E. Nowicki (right) on 3/2/99. Fincher is Charlotte's Fire Chief and is current president-elect of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. He joined Charlotte Rotary in 1989, is a member of our Board of Directors, and has served with distinction for many years on the Sergeant-at-Arms Committee. Nowicki is Charlotte's Police Chief. He joined Charlotte Rotary in 1994 and currently serves on our Visitors Committee. He has announced his resignation as Police Chief, effective 4/15/99. Nowicki gave a great presentation today on the Police Department and its many successful programs and innovations during the last five years.

Diamond, who became a new member of Charlotte Rotary today, is the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA of the Central Carolinas which includes 17 locations in Mecklenburg and Union Counties. Volponi, who joined Charlotte Rotary in 1987, is president of Junior Achievement of the Central Carolinas, Inc. which includes 18 counties and currently serves 44,236 students. Bowler, who joined Charlotte Rotary in 1996, is a shining star on our Public Relations Committee. With an office on Hive Drive, she is Vice President of Public Affairs for the Charlotte Hornets professional basketball team.

Fincher is Charlotte's Fire Chief, Nowicki is Charlotte's Police Chief, and Orr is Aviation Director of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. All are members of Charlotte Rotary. They help make Charlotte a great city in which to live safely, to work, and to travel to and from.

Roger Sarow (left) and Hal Bouton (right) on 3/2/99. Sarow, who joined Charlotte Rotary in 1998, is President and General Manager of WFAE Public Radio.  Bouton joined our Club in 1994. He is president of Charlotte's public television station WTVI-TV. All of us are grateful for the high quality programming which they bring us.
