Henry Bostic and Harry Weatherly

Scheduled for surgery resulting from Diverticulosis, Henry Bostic (Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Dept.) demonstrates to Harry Weatherly (Mecklenburg County) - via facial grimaces - precisely how he'll be feeling upon coming out of anesthesia at Presbyterian Hospital on Wednesday.  Ouch, Henry!  Would lots of cards and gifts sent to you at Presby. make you feel much better?  And is Jim Wright (Carolina Opera)(with eyes downcast) singing to himself as a distraction from Henry's surgery-related distortions?  Can you say, "Dinner Conversation," Henry? In any case, EVERYONE at Charlotte Rotary was agog over Henry's impending tummy surgery.

Patricia Baldwin, Herb Harriss and Tommy Johnson

Patricia Baldwin of Hornets Nest Girl Scout Council and Herb Harriss (Baxter-Harriss Co.) smile over the meatloaf and/or chuckle over the prospect of seeing Henry Bostic in a hospital gown!  Tommy Johnson (right side of photo) is more intent on the fact that he's been eating Rotary lunches for over 44 years.

John Phillips and Randall Groves

John Phillips (Joint & Clutch Service) consults with Randall Groves, Attorney at Law,  to determine the legality of John's offering to handle Henry Bostic's surgery at the Joint & Clutch shop in lieu of Henry having to go to the hospital.  What are friends for, after all?

Corinne Allen and Dr. Hoke Nash

Corinne Allen (Education Foundation) and Dr. Hoke Nash (formerly of Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat ) give some thought to performing Henry Bostic's surgery via his sinus cavities.

Hal Bouton and Scott Anderson

Hal Bouton (WTVI gen. mgr.) and Scott Anderson (Bank of Mecklenburg's head honcho) suggest that Scott will bank-roll Henry's operation if Hal will put it on public television.  Better TV than some prime time programming!

Dr. Bob Boehm and Ed Nowokunski

Dr. Bob Boehm (Mecklenburg Allergy and Asthma Associates) and Ed Nowokunski (The Printing Office) ponder the pros and cons of offering to treat Henry's hay fever while he's in sterile conditions and printing up official invitations to mail to Rotarians intent upon visiting Henry in the hospital (and/or the Joint & Clutch Service shop.)

Judy Diamond

___________ and Judy Diamond (YWCA E.O.) converse over lunch.  Will they or won't they take posies to Henry while he's feeling yukky?  Can Christie make changes in Presbyterian's artwork if she wants to?

Gib Smith and Rusty Brink

Gib Smith (Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson, PA) and Rusty Brink (Presbyterian Hospital Foundation) see the advantages of Henry's selection of Presbyterian for the site of his surgery.  Certainly Rotarians will be flocking to the hospital to visit.  Perhaps Henry will need legal counsel to handle the rights to the book he'll write after his bout with Diverticulosis.

Bill Barnhardt, Erv Jackson and Bill Kinney

Bill Barnhardt (Barnhardt Elastic Corp.), Erv Jackson (he of retail marketing fame) and Bill Kinney (United Air Filter) look like they've just heard that Henry Bostic was seen roaming the hospital hallways in search of some of those funny hospital slippers.

Erv Jackson and Dr. Eugene Kozhevnikov

Dr. Eugene Kozhevnikov (who has the patience and brilliance to put Charlotte Rotary's entire meeting notes and photos pages on Charlotte Rotary Internet) and Erv Jackson ponder what small item they can find in Presby's Gift Shop as a token of friendship to Henry while he's recuperating.  A nice "Congratulations On Your Baby Girl" balloon would be nice!

These captions and barbs written and produced lovingly in honor of one of Charlotte Rotary's very finest and most popular members --- HENRY BOSTIC.  Get well soon, dear friend.  We want you back quickly!
